‘EPR & Beyond‘: EU-Singapore Dialogue on Circular Economy
The EU in Singapore and Singapore's Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) held an online dialogue on ‘EPR & Beyond: Dialogue on Circular Economy’ on 30th September as part of the ongoing #ClimateDiplomacyWeeks.
The more than 140 participants were welcomed by the European Union Ambassador to Singapore, Ambassador Iwona Piórko, and discussions were opened by Director Hazri Hassan of MSE and Astrid Schomaker of the European Commission's Directorate General for the Environment. The dialogue, coordinated by 'Rethinking Plastics' then consisted of two sessions, the first exploring EPR implementation while the second covered policy tools that are equally relevant to circular economy such as Repair and Reuse and Green Public Procurement.
It was a follow up on the earlier published Circular Economy Report which analyses the circular economy policy interventions in Singapore and the EU. With this, the event reinforced the dialogue between the EU and Singapore on circular economy and paves the way for future activities in this area important for economy and the environment.
