Plastic usage in food delivery, takeaway and online commerce has seen an additional rise due to COVID-19 related restaurant closures and distancing measures.

‘Rethinking Plastics’ fosters exchange on steps towards the reduction of single-use plastics and more sustainable alternatives and business models. In this framework, two dialogues on policies and practical examples took place in Indonesia and Thailand, involving key stakeholders such as the food delivery platforms. In Thailand on 3 December, 44 participants exchanged about concrete needs and necessary next steps to implement a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) and several stakeholders, which was signed in September 2020.
