Recording of Session 3

Our third 'Wasteless Wednesdays' session on 22 June took a closer look and focussed on the prevention of single-use plastics by promoting more sustainable alternatives. The answers and solutions that were presented include eco-labelling for packaging, reusable boxes in express delivery and containers for fruit and vegetables as well as learnings from replacing plastic bags and alternative packaging in traditional markets. Our expert from IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute also shared her observations and a regional outlook.

The following pilot projects shared their experiences in session 3:

  • Philippines: Ecolabelling for more sustainable packaging design and testing in supermarkets by Kim Castillo, Project Assistant, Philippine Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development (PCEPSDI)
  • China: Switching from plastic bags to reusable boxes in express delivery by Mr. Duan Huabo, Associate Professor, Shenzhen University
  • China: Reusable containers in fruit and vegetable trade in West Coast New District by Ms. Wang Guixin, Director, Qingdao Junshengmingshi Logistics Packaging Institute
